Continuing on this week’s theme of “black and white” photos, I thought I’d post this year-and-a-half old photo of Brandon Flowers and The Killers performing on the South Lawn of the White House for the Fourth of July in 2010. The main act for this annual event is always kept quiet until the day of, and hundreds of people were ecstatic when they heard the band take the stage.
The photo itself was a bit of an accident—I had the camera exposure set for much darker lighting but one of the stage flares flashed and overexposed everything on stage. The effect was perfect however, with the right side of Brandon’s face (our left) showing every detail, and his left side washed out for some rockstar dramatic effect.
Without a doubt, this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen, done, or photographed in DC.
